Alastair Grieve (Category 2 Development) and Colin Drummond (Category 3) have recently been accepted on the Scottish FA’s SCORE 18 programme.
SCORE (Scottish Centre of Refereeing Excellence) is a 2 year course which develops talented referees and assistant referees through intensive coaching, observation and training.
It provides referees opportunities to obtain one to one coaching and training from experienced coaches. Aside from the refereeing benefits, it also exposes the officials to a number of academic topics which will help them manage and deliver their matches successfully.
Both Alastair and Colin went through a rigorous selection process which involved fitness testing, presentations, laws of the game testing and interviews. Only 8 officials from across Scotland were accepted onto the course, with 2 coming from Stirlingshire.
Training for season 2018/19 will commence on Wednesday 30 May at Grangemouth Stadium.
This session will consist of a practice fitness test, starting at 7.30pm prompt.
Thereafter, our regular training will be on every Tuesday at Grangemouth Sports Complex, with the last Wednesday of the month at the Stadium.
With the nicer weather, please always bring footwear appropriate for indoors and outdoors.
We are very happy to confirm that Lex Robertson will be continuing as our trainer for season 2018/19. We are delighted to have Lex leading the sessions and look forward to welcoming him back after recovering from illness.

If you plan to attend can you advise Alistair Grieve or Kevin Fernie by email no later than Sunday 10th June. We need at least 12 individuals to participate in the match however we would hope for more than this.
If you would rather come along for food, drink and a catch up with the group then you are also more than welcome. The more the merrier.
Kevin Fernie has been appointed, as an Assistant Referee, to the biggest game in amateur football in Scotland – the Scottish Amateur Cup Final.
The game will be played at Hampden Park on Sunday 20 May 2018 between Shortlees AFC & Goldenhill AFC.
The other match officials are:

This is a fantastic appointment for Kevin and we wish him and the other officials all the best for this match.
Sunday 13 May 2018 will see Stephen Finnie referee his final game of football in the SPFL as he hangs up the whistle at the end of this season.
Stephen has had a long and successful career at the top of refereeing in Scotland where he has enjoyed 14 seasons as a Category 1 referee.
His final game will be the SPFL Premiership match between Kilmarnock and Hearts, played at Rugby Park with a 12.30pm kick off. Also appointed to this game is Stephen’s friend and colleague Craig Charleston, who will be 4th official.
All at Stirlingshire Referees Association wish Stephen all the best with his last game and also his retirement from a career that he has dedicated endless amounts of hours to.
We also look forward to Stephen continuing to be involved in the Association in the future, hopefully continuing to develop referees with the passion and quality that he has shown for many years.
